SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Purchase of Lifeskills Training Curriculum from National Health Promotion Associates, Inc. (Sole-Source Provider) (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On April 21, 2015, the Board approved the Agreement for Technical Services with Frameworks of Tampa Bay, Inc. to provide teacher training, coaching support, materials, and resources necessary to provide middle school students with social emotional learning skills; help establish a healthy school climate; and foster academic success, positive youth development, risk prevention, and health promotion in all middle schools from 2015/2016 through 2018/2019.  In order to further the implementation, Lifeskills Training Curriculum sets are required; which include teacher and student guides. 

As required by School Board policy, when the amount of a purchase provider is $50,000 or more, the Board is to be notified. The requirement for requesting competitive solicitations for the purchase of any type of copyrighted materials including, without limitation, printed instructional materials, computer software, DVDs, disc or tape recordings where such materials are purchased directly from the producer or publisher, the owner of the copyright, an exclusive agent within the state, a governmental agency or a recognized educational institution is waived, as authorized by Florida Department of Education rule 6A-1.012 (11)b purchasing policies.

Funds in the amount of $165,448.50 will be available in the Supplemental Academic Instruction categorical budget. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 4628. As of Thursday, November 19, 2015, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $214,325.00.
EVALUATION
An external evaluation will be conducted by the Center of Study and Prevention Violence (CSPV), a research program of the Institute of Behavioral Science at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  CSPV will work with the district Assessment and Accountability Department to complete necessary data collection efforts. Reports will be available at the end of each school year.
