Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with Mindsteps, Inc. (Leadership Development)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Florida Department of Education awarded the district with an Instructional Leadership and Faculty Development Grant in the amount of $510,065. These dollars are being used to develop principals through small group principal’s meetings, principal PLCs and specialized area trainings all based on principals’ competency-based goals. The contract with Mindsteps, Inc. will allow Area 8 principals the opportunity to further their learning in how to give teachers the kind of feedback that will improve their practice. They will learn how to differentiate their feedback based on teacher needs and how to move unmotivated teachers toward greater performance.

The training will include a full day session on effective feedback followed by two days of in-school coaching for each principal.

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Align the performance management system with the district's priorities
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funding for this project is provided by the Department of Education District Instructional Leadership and Faculty Development Grant for amount of $20,500. The total amount of the grant is $510,065.
EVALUATION
Area Leadership Team will follow-up in the field by observing principals and teachers and collecting evidence on the impact of the feedback provided.
