SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Appointment of Architectural and Construction Management Firms for Continuing Contracts
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Florida Statutes authorize continuing contracts for professional architectural, engineering, and construction management services for projects for which construction costs do not exceed $2,000,000, and for study activities when the fee for such professional services does not exceed $200,000. The Board previously approved continuing contracts for architects and construction managers in 2010 for a maximum five year term. New continuing contracts for architectural and construction management services are required.

Florida Statutes and School Board policy outline the process and requirements for selection of architects, engineers, and construction managers. Attachment A summarizes the process. The process provides for the identification of the most highly qualified firms by a Professional Services Selection Committee that includes representatives from several District divisions and the community. Attachment B identifies the specific committee members participating in this selection and the organization represented by each.

A total of 20 architectural firms and 27 construction managers responded to the solicitation included in Attachment C. Firms responding and the results of the preliminary screening evaluation by the Committee are recorded in Attachment D.

The Committee interviewed each firm selected for further consideration as a result of the preliminary screening. In lieu of the ranking of firms, the Committee recommended approval of continuing contracts with all firms deemed qualified following the interviews. Recommended firms are listed in Attachment E. Subject to satisfactory performance, each contract shall extend for a maximum term of five years.
