Approve Change Order No. 12 for Kitchen Renovations at Multiple Sites
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Student Nutrition Services previously identified funding to upgrade serving lines and/or cooler freezers at 82 sites. (Schools projected to receive a serving line or freezer-cooler replacement are identified in an attachment.) On October 8, 2013, the Board appointed Rowe Architects Incorporated and The Beck Group to provide design and construction management services. The Board subsequently approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) and additional modifications to complete the previously funded work.

Student Nutrition Services has identified funding to satisfy additional requirements for new serving lines and/or freezer-coolers at several additional sites, as indicated on the attachment.  As provided for by Board Policy, District staff issued a Construction Change Directive (CCD) to authorize the work and allow it to proceed concurrently with the previously approved work. The Policy requires that normal change order procedures be followed after issuance of a CCD. As the cost of the change order exceeds $100,000, Board approval is required.

A time extension of 316 days is included for completion of the additional work.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $16,944,615.23 will be available in the Student Nutrition Services fund. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 9108 and 9109. As of Thursday, May 5, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $1,141,243.77.
