Recognition of the Tampa Hillsborough County Public Library 2015 Stair Prize in Writing Contest Winner (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
The Tampa Hillsborough County Public Library sponsors a countywide creative writing contest that allows seventh and eighth grade students within Hillsborough County to write short stories in the fantasy, science fiction, adventure, or escape genres using the 2015 theme, “Get Away.”   This Stair Prize in Writing Contest was funded by the Friends of the Jan Platt Library through a grant from the Ralph Stair Foundation.  The Friends of Jan Platt Library honored the Stair Prize in Writing Contest winner at their board meeting on December 16, 2015.

Kendall White, a seventh grade student at Williams Middle Magnet School, was awarded first place for her story, “A Sandy Grave,” about a bay turtle getting out of his shell and trying to reach the water.
