SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Naming of the Baseball Field at Middleton High School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Middleton High School staff, students, parents, alumni association, and community members have requested that the baseball field at Middleton High School be named the David Best Field.

Mr. Best is a Middleton High School and Florida A&M University Alumni.  He was inducted into the FAMU Sports Hall of Fame and was the first Middleton High School graduate to play professional baseball.  Mr. Best served as head baseball coach for Middleton from 1968 through 1971 and led the team to several district and city championships.  The team earned regional championship status during the 1970-1971 season, and went on to compete in the state tournament in 1971.  Mr. Best was able to obtain over ten baseball scholarships for his players and has served for several years as a volunteer coach for Little League.  He serves faithfully as a member of Middleton High School's Athletic Booster Club.

It would be an honor to the staff, students, parents, alumni association, and community members to name the Middleton High School baseball field after David Best.
