SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Collegiate High School Agreement with the District Board of Trustees of Hillsborough Community College (HCC), 2016/2017
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Collegiate High School Program (CHSP) is an articulated acceleration mechanism between HCC and Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS).   The CHSP shall serve to shorten the time necessary for students to complete the requirements associated with the conference of an Associates of Arts degree, broaden the scope of curriculum options available to students, and increase the depth of study available for a particular subject.  College credit courses will be available to eligible high school students while they are simultaneously completing their high school requirements.  HCC and HCPS agree to have at least one CHSP established in at least one high school in Hillsborough County at a mutually agreed upon location, with the option to expand the CHSP to other high schools in Hillsborough County.

Each CHSP will offer the option for high school students in grades 11-12 participating in the CHSP for at least one full school year to earn Career and Professional Education (CAPE) Industry Certification from the high school site housing the CHSP.  Further, each CHSP will allow for the successful completion of a minimum of thirty credits through the dual enrollment towards completion of an Associate of Arts degree.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Without our strong partnership with HCC, the district would incur a cost of approximately $174,206. Costs incurred by the district will be offset via in-kind services including college and career counseling, student advising, facility usage, and associated fees.
EVALUATION
In 2013/2014, the total enrollment in our 3 collegiate academies was 301 students. This number increased in 2014/2015 to 413 students and in 2015/2016 there are currently 653 students enrolled. These numbers reflect an overall increase of 46 percent over the last 3 years. Presently, 93.5 percent of the 140 students who are in their third year of the program are on track to earn their Associate of Arts (AA) Degree, along with their high school diploma in May of 2017.
