SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Grant Application Submissions Between April 13, 2016, and July 31, 2017, by the Department of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (CTAE) and Accept all Grant Funds Generated Through Awarded Grant Applications During that Time Period (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Florida Department of Education Division of Career and Adult Education requires school districts to submit proposals in a consolidated format for annual entitlement grants.  Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) Department of CTAE is requesting approval to submit for and receive the following grants (2015/2016 award amounts included): Federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Secondary Grant ($2,117,510 - Project 2928); Federal Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Postsecondary Grant ($427,858 - Project 2951); Adult Education Family Literacy/Adult General Education Grant ($1,678,549 - Project 2924); Adult Education Family Literacy Grant, English Literacy/Civics Education Grant ($358,885 - Project 2973); National Farmworkers Career Development Program Grant ($349,199 - Project 2972); Adult Education Family Literacy State Leadership Florida’s Integrated Career and Academic Preparation System (FICAPS) Grant ($25,000 - Project 2974). 

In addition, we are requesting approval to apply for and receive the Career Recruitment and Instruction in Basic English (CARIBE) Grant ($1,671,410 - Project 2921), which is funded through the Florida Department of Children and Families as an agent on behalf of the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement; as well as Quick Response Training Grants ($1,250,340 - 22 different projects), which are applied for through Enterprise Florida.  Florida's Quick Response Training Grant is a partnership among CareerSource Florida, the requesting company and HCPS, which serves as a fiscal agent.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Based on past performance, it is estimated that grant funds received by HCPS through the efforts of the CTAE Department will be approximately $7,878,751.  These funds will be available in the district’s divisional special revenue/federal programs budget for 2016/2017.
EVALUATION
Project Directors are responsible for reporting progress in meeting performance targets to funding agencies.
