SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Contract for Sunlake Academy of Math and Science (Formerly Tampa Academy of Math and Science)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Charter School legislation, 1002.33 F.S., permits individuals, organizations, and community members the opportunity to submit an application to the School Board for the creation of a charter school. On December 9, 2014, the School Board approved the application for Tampa Academy of Math and Science.  The charter school board approved a name change on May 7, 2015 to Sunlake Academy of Math and Science. The school will serve students in grades K-8 using standard curriculum with an emphasis on math and science.

A copy of the proposed five year contract for the school is Attachment I. The original charter application approved by the School Board will become Appendix I of this contract, and will be available for review in the Charter School Office.

In the event of a discrepancy between the contract and the charter application, the terms of the contract will prevail. Sunlake Academy of Math and Science has agreed to all terms of the contract, which has been revised to include the most recent revisions to 1002.33, F.S.

A copy of the application review summary is Attachment II indicating where weaknesses are addressed in the contract.
