EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Each summer since 2008, middle school students from the Tampa Bay area (Tampa) travel to Camp Virginia Jaycee (Camp Jaycee) to volunteer as junior counselors.  Geared to providing educational and outdoor recreational activities for special needs children and adults, this 90 acre year-round camp has served over 46,000 campers in its 47 year existence.  In July 2015, the junior counselors, also members of the Men of Vision program, received the President’s Volunteer Service award, which will be presented to them during today’s board meeting.

Approximately 60 Tampa middle school students have befriended and entertained campers, ranging from ages 6 to 68, during their annual visits.   The junior counselors return from Camp Jaycee with experience in life lessons from a different population, exposure to volunteerism, and with certification as Junior Lifeguards and in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
