Approve the Purchase of the Professional Development Electronic Resources, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Bundle 9, and Corwin Bundle Seven from Cengage Learning, Inc. (Sole-Source Provider) (Student Services Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Electronic books allow easy access to current professional resources to support the prescriptive professional development needs of teachers at all schools in the district. The Gale electronic book collection contains full text information from Gale/ASCD reference books and periodicals and can be accessed at any time by teachers through the internet from home, school, or mobile devices.
The titles in the electronic bundles include, but are not limited to, the following topics: cultural responsive teaching, working with ELL learners, parent involvement, student engagement, and in urban settings. With the addition of these bundles, teachers will have access to 330 professional titles. Cengage Learning, Inc. is the publisher and sole-source provider for these materials in the United States. Therefore, this purchase is exempt from the requesting competitive solicitations by the Florida Department of Education 6A-1.012 Purchasing Policies (11) (b). |

Funds in the amount of $135,850.00 will be available in the POWER 3, Teacher Incentive Fund Grant, Object 361. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 3005. As of Monday, April 4, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $135,850.00. | |
EVALUATION | |
Yearly usage statistics will be provided to the district by the vendor. In addition, teachers will be asked questions regarding the effectiveness of these products within the annual review of POWER 3 initiatives. | |
