Approve Purchase of Dual Enrollment Instructional Materials from Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida for the 2016/2017 School Year (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hillsborough County Public Schools provides instructional materials for dual enrollment courses as defined in the parameters of the dual enrollment articulation agreement.  The college institutions decide which textbooks are to be purchased for the course and the district purchases the materials for the students. Attached is a list of the dual enrollment instructional materials from Hillsborough Community College and the University of South Florida.

In accordance with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE), Purchasing Policy 6A-1.012(11)(b), the requirement for requesting competitive solicitations for commodities is waived as authorized by Section 1010.04(4)(a), F.S., for the purchase by district school boards of educational textbooks where such materials are purchased directly from a governmental agency or a recognized educational institution.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $400,000.00 will be available in the Instructional Materials Categorical budget. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 4509. As of Friday, May 20, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $11,892,756.97. The cost for these materials is estimated based on projected enrollment.
