SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Memorandum of Understanding Between Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and the School Board of Hillsborough County Regarding Installation of Acoustic Sensors For the "Shot Spotter" Program at Five District Locations

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On April 21, 2015, the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida, a body corporate, entered into a License Agreement with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) to allow the HCSO to install video equipment for the "Eye on Crime" Program at King High School.  In continuing with the established partnership with the HCSO, the attached Memorandum of Understanding would be for the installation of additional crime prevention and/or data collection information equipment.  Acoustic sensors would analyze a site survey conducted by Shot Spotter, a gunfire location and identification system.  Equipment would be placed at Mort Elementary School, Bowers-Whitley Career Center, King High School, the School District Warehouse, and Robles Elementary School.  Installation of the equipment will not interfere with the normal operations of School Board property and campuses.  Use of this system would be another piece of critical intelligence that will aid the HCSO with responses to illegal gunfire incidents.

The term of this Memorandum of Understanding shall be perpetual, with either party having the right to terminate with thirty (30) days written notice.  The attached has been reviewed and approved by district general counsel as to form and sufficiency.
