Recognition of the 2016 National Project Learning Tree Outstanding Educator (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Karen Johnson Folsom, Lead Teacher of Nature’s Classroom Environmental Education Center was selected from nominees across the United States as one of five Outstanding Educators by Project Learning Tree.  Awardees were judged on the following criteria: excellence in teaching in outdoor environmental education, supervision and leadership, and community relations.  Ms. Johnson has provided hundreds of hours of professional development to fellow formal and informal educators throughout Florida and as an active Project Learning Tree volunteer, she has mentored facilitators, led workshops, and now serves on the Florida Project Learning Tree Steering Committee.  

She will be honored at the Project Learning Tree 30th International Coordinators Conference, May 23-26, 2016, in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She is also invited to attend the World Forestry Center’s International Educators Institute, July 10-16, 2016, in Portland, Oregon.
