EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
For the second year in a row, FASA is partnering with the district to support the summer leadership institute. On June 16, 2016, 650 principals, assistant principals, and district staff will come together for the Talent Development Institute (TDI) for the purpose of strengthening leader practice in developing systems of support and high quality professional learning to meet the needs of every teacher in every school.  The district is developing and delivering the content for the institute and FASA is paying for the venue and food, as well as a FASA membership for each of the participating leaders.  The membership provides opportunities for ongoing professional development, leadership opportunities, state communications, and latest research.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce • Align the performance management system with the district's priorities
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $50,700.00 will be available in the Title 2 Grant. For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 2988. As of Thursday, May 5, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $279,700.00.
EVALUATION
The surveys from the institute last summer showed that 98 percent of participants strongly agreed or stated that the event was beneficial in supporting their practice. As a result of the institute, every school walked away with specific plans for improving school culture by engaging and connecting students through components of the culture icon.  Every school has implemented their plans and have shared results at small group principals' meetings facilitated by Area Superintendents.   As a result of the TDI, every school will leave with specific plans for developing a system of support that will allow them to provide job embedded professional development for teachers on an ongoing basis.  Plans and outcomes will once again be tracked and shared during principal meetings.
