Approve Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Tampa, Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. d/b/a CareerSource of Tampa Bay for the Tampa Fire Rescue Partnership Academy, 2016/2017
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of this Memorandum of Understanding, through Learey Technical College, for the Tampa Fire Rescue Partnership Academy. The purpose of this partnership is to provide an applicant pool of newly trained firefighters to the local workforce.

The targeted student population for this special program is economically disadvantaged, minorities, and women. Through this partnership, the City of Tampa will provide the training facility, equipment, and site consumables.  CareerSource of Tampa Bay will provide tuition, fees, textbooks, tools, uniforms, and supplies for the students, as well as assistance with child care and transportation.  Learey Technical College will provide the instructors and coordination of the partnership.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $23,300.00 will be available in the divisional Workforce Education budget.  For tracking purposes, the project number specific to this agenda item is 9004.  As of June 15, 2016, the remaining balance less encumbrances for this line item equaled $166,310.68.  Funds received in excess of actual costs for this program will be remitted to the City of Tampa to offset costs associated with the operation and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
EVALUATION
The evaluation of the Academy program is based on enrollment, completion, and placement of students from this program in the local workforce. A cost and revenue report is calculated for each Academy class.  During the 2015/2016 school year, 66 students enrolled and completed the program.
