Approve Agreement with The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc. (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc. provides a variety of services to victims of domestic violence, including a 24-hour emergency shelter for victims and their dependent children who have no other safe place in which to go.  The children who reside at The Spring must receive educational services on-site for security reasons.  The district provides a teacher and teacher aide, who provide academic instruction for approximately 25 children.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The Spring provides the facility at no cost to Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS).  The academic instructional components for the program are funded by FTE funds, which amount to approximately $150,797.  This item is included in the General Fund budget.  For tracking purposes the project number specific to this item is 4679.
EVALUATION
A comprehensive evaluation of the educational program will be completed by June 30, 2017.  District staff will review academic achievement data, notes, and walk-through checklists from site visits and exit surveys.
